Today we travelled mostly on motorway to Chalon-en-Champagne to a municipal campsite that we frequently use on our trips in this direction.

The showery weather seemed to follow us but the sun did decide to shine when we arrived around 3. A first this year, was sitting outside for a cup of tea, but it was really much too cold, so it was very short-lived. Jacki and Philip weren't able to travel till today, so were coming straight here from Calais. It was my turn to do dinner and they arrived just as I was about to put the veg on, so we enjoyed our meal (and a bottle or two) all together.
Friday 6th April
We moved on again today, with blue sky all the way! We planned to meet up for lunch beside the Canal du Marne au Rhin at Ligney-en-Barrois, but we were very surprised at how much warmer it was arriving there at midday.
Being the cautious Brits we are, we kept our jackets on, but at least we enjoyed a leisurely lunch in our armchairs beside the canal basin.

Then it just got warmer and warmer, so that by the time we reached our campsite for the next 2 nights at Villey-le-Sec beside the River Moselle, we couldn't wait to get the chairs out and bask in the sunshine. This is proper camping!

Thinking of you as you travel and wishing Ann a very happy birthday 🍰 🍷 🍷 xxx
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that you have arrived safely and are enjoying the sunshine, conspicuously absent here! We're just back from a 'working' holiday in Saltash...sadly I didn't get on the beach at Downderry once. It wasn't really beach weather but after Craig produced one of his famous lists, we all knew that no slacking would be permitted! Glad to report that after much cleaning, tidying, decluttering and painting, their house sold after only three viewings, leaving us all with a free weekend! So we had a good time at the bowling alley and then out for dinner on Saturday. Sad to say goodbye to Tilly on her birthday today but she was very excited about her swimming lesson this morning and a theatre trip tomorrow. No doubt we will be back again in a few weeks' time, and no doubt Craig will produce another list of jobs for us! When you've got a moment, please try to send some of that warm sunshine this way....xxx
