Day at Santa Margherita Ligure

Tuesday 17th April

Today we caught the bus to the next town along the coast of the Portofino peninsular - Santa Margherita Ligure.

We left in lovely sunshine, so were quite surprised when it started to rain while we were in a restaurant eating our pizzas.

It had stopped by the time we came out, so we wandered through the streets, visited the very ornate Basilica

and climbed through the ancient gardens of the Villa Durazzo.

So we didn't do any batling ....
There, it started to drizzle again - but there was another church to go in for a while.  So continued a very April afternoon - while walking along the seafront towards Portofino it suddenly poured down and we just had a spindly tree to hug for a bit of shelter, but when the sun shone it was very warm and quickly dried us off.  Of course all the photos were taken when the sun was shining!  A lovely day out in another beautiful place.

We didn't stay long enough to see if these brave children actually went in ...

Good to talk to cousin Val on the phone this evening on her 70th birthday.  (Wish you were here!)
