To Lucerne

Our set-up at Turckheim
Thursday 12th April

Our departure this morning was marked by us all having breakfast together in the delightful Patisserie Carl in the village.  We munched on beautifully fresh croissants/pastries and drank hot chocolate/coffee.

At 11.30 we were waved good-bye and we began our onward journey, soon across the Rhine into Germany, then into Switzerland.  We'd bought and stuck our vignette on our windscreen back home, so we hardly had to slow down at the border.  The motorway was a bit busier than in France, but 100 miles on, we arrived in Lucerne to stay at a lovely campsite we've used before.  It is just a couple of minutes from the lakeside

and has all mod cons.  The sites we've been at through France have all be good too, but there is always something lacking in the facilities; eg. at Villey-le-Sec we had to take our own loo roll, at Gerardmer there was no soap, at Turckheim there was nowhere to dry your hands (we would come out waving our arms about) but here at Lucerne there is just about everything you can think of: loo roll, squirty stuff to clean the seat, a loo brush, hot water, soap dispenser and posh 15 second hand drier.  However - all this comes at a price!  We are just staying one night only!

It's been a lovely sunny day and perfect for photographing the lake and snowy mountains.
