Oh dear, the weather has gone downhill fast! Cold and raining this morning, but hey, ho, we are travelling on 30 miles over the mountain, so it must get better. After an interesting hour in SuperU we drove the short way to Lac de Longemer - another favourite location of ours. But we hardly recognised it in the pouring rain! So lunch had to be in the vans and not on the picnic area by the lake. Then was the exciting journey up to Col de la Schlucht (Val & Bernard - remember the luge!!). The rain quickly turned to snow and the temperature went down to 2 deg. We all stopped on the top of the Col to see the view - not much of one really, except for the snow-covered hillside.

Everything was closed - the shops, the chair lift, the luge - so we didn't linger long and started the descent on the eastern side,

down through Munster (cobbled one-way streets) to Turckheim. Here we settled into the campsite in the dry, but still chilly air. It was our turn to do dinner this evening and although the risotto took rather a long time to cook, it went down well. We are loving the light evenings - had a really good explore of the beautiful little town of Turckheim.

We remember the Luge well. Sorry you were not able to do it on this occasion as it was great fun. Also remember Gerardmer and Longemer with you and Val swimming in both lakes. They were good times to look back on....B&V
